HYPERHIDROSIS
[urban lingo: sweating problem]

My boss, bless his heart, has a sweating problem which has become MY problem. I get disgusted, more like sickened, by it every-single-day. Our company is freezing, igloo cold yet he sweats like a pig! How am I to deal with this? He is a foreigner and wears a blouse. The image to the right is an exact depiction of my miserable daily problem. Is it ok to bring it up? Can I confront him? Should I just suck it up and put a lid on it? Its such a sensitive topic. HELP!

A Few Cookies a Day to Keep the Pounds Away?

Name: Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet
Created: 1975
Description: eat cookies and lose up to 10 pounds a month
Diet: six prepackaged cookies a day, plus one ‘real’ meal — ie skinless chicken & steamed veggies
Cost: $56 a week for the prepackaged cookies
Endorsers: Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson (!)
Expected 2009 revenue: $ 18 million (5 million KD)
Similar 'imitation' diets: Smart for Life, Hollywood Cookie Diet, Soypal Cookies

Verdict: this is a FAD DIET! DO NOT FOLLOW

The diet gives people a false sense of control, simplifying balanced nutrition into one food: the cookie. A diet of below 1,000 calories (like this diet) does not lead to long-lasting weight loss and can result in negative side effects. Plus, there are no clinical studies on this particular diet that tells us it actually works.

Glamour Magazine's Normal Sized Models on the Ellen DeGeneres Show

Glamour Magazine will feature a pictorial of "plus-sized" models in their upcoming issue. Ellen invited four of the models to talk about their experience (and why anything above size 6 is considered "plus"), and then reveals the photo for the first time!

Kim Kardashian: Photoshopped

Unretouched photos of Kim were released by mistake before the 'official' photoshopped versions in March 2009.

before (to the left) and after (to the right)

This is Kim's response from her blog:

So what: I have a little cellulite. What curvy girl doesn’t!?

How many people do you think are photoshopped? It happens all the time!

I’m proud of my body and my curves and this picture coming out is probably helpful for everyone to see that just because I am on the cover of a magazine doesn’t mean I’m perfect.

Moral: its OK to have cellulite and curves

Please watch out for what our little ones are eating
Little changes, gigantic differences
It's all in our hands. I can't bare seeing obese toddlers anymore.
It breaks my heart

Smokers: Would it be so hard to stop for just one day? Just one? On Thursday the 1st October this year we challenge you to stop smoking those cigarettes and name this day ‘GULF SMOKE OUT DAY’.

Spread the word my friends.
Let's make this happen.

The difference between Doctors and Dietitians

1. Our highly trained, very capable doctors can help cure, fix, and medicate a patient, a good dietitian may help a client avoid the illness in the first place. (Notice the nomenclature – patient vs client).

2. If you think your doctor can give you some diet tips, know this – the average physician does not receive a single credit’s worth of nutrition education while at medical school. So when a doctor tells you to lose some weight, he/she does not necessarily have the tools to help you make it happen, but a dietitian definetly can.

SAD TRUTH

It’s much more profitable to create health problems (fast food industry, junk food manufacturers) and then spend billions to cure them (medical bills, pharmaceuticals). It’s a profitable business cycle for corporations, but not a sound proposition for consumers.
